Keep Moving! 🛼

Shared Wisdom and Shaking It Up.

A Very Merry Unbirthday to you!

Let’s use my birthday as an excuse to reflect upon the wisdom and whimsy shared to me… that you could find inspirational too. Yes, it’s OK to laugh out loud.

🛼 Keep moving! A friend of mine who recently turned 70 looks basically my age, and that’s more than 20 years younger. Her secret? “Laura, you just have to keep moving!” My solution: make hula hoops and buy inline skates. Also, signed up for the Trick or Trot 5K to raise funds and awareness for LGBTQ youth. 🏳️‍🌈🏃🏽‍♀️

🍱 Food is life. This wisdom comes with side dishes, “Who is your farmer?” and “Vote with your dollar!” My partner believes it’s important to have a farmer friend and know your food source. My solution: SoS. Soup or Salad from the garden. In other words, 🌈 Eat a Rainbow! 🥗 And support my friend’s Saveur Magazine.

🧥 Clean out your closet and Keep It Simple, Sexy. Enjoy freedom and space while also helping others. It feels great to give. This Thursday I expect to see faces glow with delight as we help them curate a new interview outfit at the OPEN Annual Career Fair and Dinner Event. My solution: donating all my grey and black clothes.

👠 Walk in someone else’s shoes. Did I tell you I’m writing this incredible book with a trans person about the many different pathways — some traumatizing, some healing — of a beautiful talented person transitioning into their authentic self? My advice: shake it off after processing the trauma. My promise: the world needs this book. Stay tuned!

Life is to be lived. If you have to support yourself, you had bloody well better find some way that is going to be interesting. And you don't do that by sitting around wondering about yourself.

Women Who Deserve a Spotlight

🌱 Check out what my friend, Lana Wood, is doing with Parsley. With her consultations in combination with incredible technology, she helps HR leaders better accommodate their employee’s benefits needs, which allows for healthier retention and career advancement within a company. There’s this thing called a Benefits Cliff.

For entrepreneurs who keep pushing their money stuff into the shadows, connect with my friend, Eliana. She’s created this incredible one month program to help you make friends with your finances, empower your goals, and cultivate confidence with your cash. I also love the fact that she’s making a beautiful life in Portugal. 🇵🇹

💃🏻 Seriously shake it off with my friend, Sarah Giencke of Riset Resiliency. She’s creating such beautiful culture and safe space for processing trauma and anxiety, wherever you go. Learn more in her online presentation this October 10th.

🏳️‍⚧️ Dina Nina IS a source of light and basically creates her own spotlight everywhere she goes. She’s designed a beautiful workshop to help people with trauma find themselves in a safe, healing space, and she also created a Queer Faith Outreach to help those who experienced abuse/trauma from religion in the past. Bless her.

Writing Exercise: Check Your Solar System

Autumn transitions are a great time to give your relationship solar system a thorough inspection with a shiny clean telescope. As winter sets in, you’re going to want only supportive people huddling in with you. Try this writing exercise for ultimate mission-alignment and connections.

🪐 Think of yourself floating in the middle of space, in your own galaxy. You are your own planet. What is your mission again?

🌟 Who is orbiting closest to you? What kind of energy do they have? How do they impact your energy?

🌑 Who do you wish/need to be orbiting closer to you but they are so, so far away? What would happen if you could pull them in closer to you?

Feel free to sketch a little drawing of what your relationship solar system looks like and use that to help you journal out the answers to the questions above. When you have an interesting epiphany, feel free to message me and share. Of course, I can help you realign your stars and carry your mission through with a brilliant marketing strategy.

Thank you for being so wonderful!
