Muck! Brain bog and swamp mouth

Laura Paisley Beck’s vintage Royal typewriter, blue with white keys, sits in the wilderness facing Lake Owen.

You’re not alone. Most everyone, at some point, wrestles with Imposter Syndrome or a mean inner critic. One side effect: writer’s block.

The good news is that I know several incredible best practices and tricks to put your inner critic in the corner and empower your creative, compassionate brain for wonderful productivity. Don’t worry- I won’t make you use a typewriter.

Let’s talk about your specific written content challenge and I’ll offer you some tools to help you get what you need written, for the platform(s) you're using, and in the right time.

Ruck! Are those fighting words?

Did you play Debate BINGO too? This fabulous photo displaying her incredible iPhone skills is Lana Wood, a talented and intelligent friend of mine. Yes, I made the BINGO cards.

What did we learn from the presidential debate on September 10th, regardless of your political affiliation? Someone showed up prepared with well-written and practiced content to convey their message, and the other candidate preferred to react and ad lib. Both clearly stayed on brand.

One person was:

  • extremely easy to understand,

  • understood their target audience, and

  • established themselves as an educated, strong, trusted expert.

The other candidate:

  • didn’t make sense, however

  • strung together random buzzwords their audience listens for and

  • did invoke emotion.

What do you want to accomplish with your content?

Consider your audience, which might also include future employees and leaders of your organization.

This is what I ask my clients: Is your desire to educate and build trust? Stir up emotions to lead clients to take action?

There are ways to do both well, using your brand voice, sticking with your brand’s key topics, and ensuring you’re connecting with your ideal stakeholders (not to yourself about yourself).

For LGBTQ+ friendly businesses looking to improve their inclusive written content, I offer a 15 week program in which I guide you to realign with your mission and relationships to launch a more effective marketing plan. Let me be very clear, we have a lot of fun in Mission Magnetosphere.
